New master plan for Wimbledon contains green walls & traditional English landscaping

The new 2020 master plan for Wimbledon is a way for improvements and enhancements to the famous tennis courts. Under the direction of Grimshaw and Rolfe Judd supported by Atelier ten, Vectos, planning and movement strategies, the new plan calls for a strategic reconfiguration of the terrain and improves the user experience for visitors and players. ALTEC's goal was to protect the heritage of the site and improve the facilities effectively, that would improve the local community.

The new plans for the facility include a new retractable roof on Court No. 1, install new squares, courtyards, a new facility to support global operations and an improved and advanced player system. Landscaping is by Grant Associates, which designed the amazing gardens by the Bay project in Singapore. The landscape scheme contains many new trees, improved landscape garden rooms walkways and promenades, showing use of Topiary, green walls and planted pergolas, creative patch, areas and topics. Keith French, the Director of Grant Associates said: "our goal is to play the spirit of an English garden tennis while elegance and attention to detail Wimbledon is building on the tradition of quality, known for."
