Shigeru ban unveils plans for wood swatch and Omega headquarters in the Switzerland

Ban won an international competition to extend the Switzerland-based swatch and Omega Japanese architect Shigeru. The design is added to the existing three buildings of the watch companies campus in Biel/Bienne, a leading center of wood technology. Ban's winning proposal includes three wood constructions, this will house exhibition galleries, a visitor centre and public places, and even a River Trail.

Ban said in a recent statement, that he very honored that the Omega/swatch design competition is to win, added that it wood not only out of deference to Biel/Bienne of the long history as a hub of wooden construction, but also chose, because he says that wood is "only" renewable building material in the world.

Add Omega's existing offices, the Museum form the core of the extended campus out of the ground, make way for an entrance plaza raised. Central is the curvilinear then from here, connected shell wood canopy and extending the Plaza on the other side of the road caused by a grid.
