Ayutt and Associates Design‘s YAK01 house is shaped like an L to enhance daylighting and provide lots of room for green space. 50 percent of the land is dedicated to a garden with trees and a pool, which can be enjoyed from every angle of the house. The swimming pool is positioned in parallel with the building, creating a micro climate that draws cool air into the house.
YAK01 is mainly made from glass and concrete, and some parts also incorporate recyclable silver aluminum extrusion strips. The architect’s main concern was keeping the building cool – an important feature in Thailand’s tropical summer. To accomplish this, they made sure to provide cross ventilation in every room of the home.
