Half of the curtain walls "the Cheesegrater" tower is now complete, with 51% of the companies Aon and Amlin of already pre covered structure. The Leadenhall building is owned by British land and Oxford properties and the first UK project for Chinese curtain wall is contractor Yuanda and the first major skyscraper in the United Kingdom for Laing O'Rourke.
The design incorporates a structural steel frame that supported the floors and includes tools and services. It encloses the firefighting cores, which serve the Office floors and visually anchored the building to the ground. The core of the Northern support is a free-standing tower with all passenger and freight elevators, service cards, on soil plant and toilets.
The double glazed facade covers the structural frames, apertures and controlled blinds that are adjusted to solar to limit unwanted gain and glare. The building is perfectly geared for passive solar heating. Openings in the facade of high performance allow to enter the outside air and relief from the cavity.
